Our Missions

Surface Operations - On-water operations while under Coast Guard orders, using an Auxiliary Facility (our Flotilla patrol boat). 

Such as:Auxiliary patrol boat docked at Station Shark River

- Maritime Observation Missions (Safety Patrols)

- Regatta Patrols

- Search and Rescue Assistance

- Verifying Aids to Navigation

- Training Exercises 

 

 

Courtesy Vessel Safety Checks - A free service provided to the boating public to check a vessel's equipment for compliance with Federal and State safety requirements.

Public Education - Provide exceptional boating safety education to the public at State mandated Boating Safety Courses and other events.

Marine Dealer Visitation (Program Visitor) - Promotes safe boating for the recreational boating public through the aid of marine dealerships, local businesses, marinas, vessel repair agencies, libraries, waiting rooms of local doctor's offices, etc.  This is accomplished by distribution of boating safety literature and information.  The Program Visitor maintains frequent contact and restocks literature and brochures in display racks.

Public Affairs - To publicize Auxiliary activities so that public understands and appreciates Auxiliary support of the Coast Guard.   

This could be accomplished by:Coast Guard public affairs display booth

- Setting up and manning Auxiliary displays and exhibits at boat shows and other community events.

- Writing articles for media outlets and Auxiliary publications.

- Encouraging attendance at Public Education classes and generating interest in Vessel Safety Checks. 

- Helping to spread the Auxiliary message and recruit new members.  

 

Marine Safety and Environmental Protection - Help protect sea life and prevent pollution through outreach efforts.  Provide support for Coast Guard sectors in the legacy Marine Safety and Environmental Protection programs.

Coast Guard Support -  Act as a force multiplier for the Coast Guard in a variety of roles, such as:

- Watchstanding at a Coast Guard UnitAuxiliary Food Service specialists serving a buffet

- Provide Food Service at Coast Guard Stations, aboard Cutters, and at special events.

- Various other operational and administrative support roles, depending on the needs of the sector.
